We are a sum of our experiences, our influences, our trials & tribulations. It's been quite a journey, so far... & I can't wait to see what's in store down the road.
My first musical memory was of my great-grandfather, Henry "Pop" Thomas, fiddlin' as he sat on the front porch of his gome in southeast Missouri. I begged my folks to buy me a violin, & began lessons around 1956. In 1962, after learning to play the guitar (like millions of teen-age boys during the sixties), I formed a band with some buddies from high school. In the summer of 1965, my baseball season ended prematurely due to an injury... & I spent the rest of the summer sitting with my guitar at the piano... teaching myself basic chords. My high-school orchestra director, Charlie Musgrave, taught me the basics of chord theory that have served me well over the years.
After graduating from Alton Senior High (Alton, IL) in 1967, I began a journey which continues today. From St. Louis to Knoxville, TN... to Charlotte, NC... to our current home in the mountains of western North Carolina. Musically, the journey may have travelled even further!
If our pathes have crossed during this journey, please feel free to drop me a line!
